About ME

Well I could start with describing myself according to my roles in life and how others percieve me, but that’s not really who I am.

Let me try to explain:

I’m a mother – I have given birth to two daughters, but what makes me a mother is my never ending love that can be found even on those days of exhaustion and/or frustration.  It’s the fierce protectiveness when situations require me to protect.  It’s the unselfish giving where my daughters needs are a priority and yet I show them that caring for my own needs is important as well.  Being a mother also means I have to learn all the time how my kids are changing and then try to communicate with them in a way to nuture healthy growth.  Being a mother for me is having passion to be the best woman I can be and set the example for them to watch and learn lessons from.  Mother is a short word to describe quite an honorable role.

I’m a Nurse – I have a college degree in the science of nursing, but being a nurse is so much more then a degree.  It’s the goose bumps in my arms when I am part of a moment in others lives that is seriously “life changing”.  It’s the tears in my eyes from birth, death, pain and happiness.  It’s the unselfish giving that sometimes comes before my physical needs.  It’s the strength of the emotions that surge throughout me when saving a life, comforting another through stressful or happy times, and all the array of emotions in between the highs and lows.

I’m a Woman – I was born with two X chromosomes and have the obvious physical traits that come with being a female.  Yet being a woman is everything!!  Empowered is one of the strongest words that I am pressed to use to describe being a woman as I came into physical, emotional and spiritual growth.  Being a woman means finding and using my voice, wether it’s singing likes no one’s listening or standing up for something I believe in.  I also believe being a woman is sexy, beautiful and sensual.

These three titles I described above are a small number of the labels we place on each other in our world and yet, I remember a lasting impression I learned once from an audio book by Marshall Rosenburg.  He referred to the common need we all have as humans and that is we all have a deep need to be loved.

When it really comes down to ME and who I am?   Well Eckhart Tolle said it best,”I AM”
